What to get a girl?

I've been talking to this girl online now for probably about a month, and we've become the best of friends, and we're gonna be meeting up in a week.

I want to get her something nice for when we meet, but she normally won't accept gifts from anyone, so it'd have to be something inexpensive. For the record, I'm not making this up so I can be cheap.

I've thought about getting her a ring or something from Alchemy Gothic as she wears a couple of rings, but is it a good idea to give a girl a ring straight away? Also, what if a) it doesn't fit and b) it only fits her ring finger?

The other idea I've had is a little necklace or a lacy choker as she's got a beautiful neck, and I think it will accent that about her.

The final idea that has been thought of is getting her a lip ring. I know she wears an 8mm ring in the centre of her lower lip, and she likes them, but I also know she has quite a few of them.

What do people think, as I want to make the best impression to start off with.

I'd go for a necklace or choker, that's probably what I would prefer to be bought out of that list.

A ring is not a good idea, it's going to be hard to get one that fits her properly. I don't think it's inappropriate to buy rings for a girl you're just meeting for the first time. You aren't proposing and if it's a gothy sort of ring I don't think it would be misinterpreted. If it was gold and diamondy that would be odd.

Lip ring, now it's a good idea but I know that I'm very particular about the jewellery I wear in my piercings & I think most people are. Especially because it is a lip piercing and pretty visible. Plus as you said she probably had a good collection already.

A choker or necklace is not going to have sizing issues plus it's more the sort of thing you can say "I saw this and thought you might like it". It's not going to be too expensive and it shows thoughtfulness without it being like you spent hours trawling the stores to find something. Oh plus the bonus of it giving you an excuse to look at her beautiful neck...

EDIT: the only other cool thing I can think of for a gift would be a voucher for a piercing (not sure if all piercers do this, but mine back home did). In my mind that's a really cool gift...but I guess you are going 'I bought you the fun of getting jabbed with a needle'. Depends how much she's into her piercings but it would be kind of cool cos she'd have something to remember your first meeting.

I like the fact that you are so willing to make such a good impression and really thinking about what to get her; it shows you listen to her which is really quite endearing.

Why not, when you meet up with her go somewhere and then buy her something that she says she likes or would like? Make her feel special.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Martin.
Buy her a small fluffy toy (I mean small) and then make fun of her for looking like the toy. Man Im gonna do that already to some randommer.

Well, personally, I think the ring would be a silly thing to do, she might take it erm...as a proposal lol. The choker thing sounds nice though. Take her out somewhere and let her choose - she might already want something. Good Luck xx

She's not heavily into the piercings, but that's a great suggestion anyways. I like your point though of having an excuse to look and admire her neck  Rosetinted - you rock  Thanks loads :hugs:

Rocketman, that's a great idea, but the only kind of shopping she likes is food shopping!! LOL Cheers anyway dude.

BTW Rosetinted, where bouts in Sheffield do you live? I've seen you on the forums loads, but just seen you're in Sheffield too.

Haha!! Love your plan PhonicsDude, but last time I said to her about cuddly toys she just replied "I don't need one cos I've got you", and surprisingly enough, I'd prefer her to cuddle me than some bear. LOL

LOL Yeah, that could be a slight problem if she thought that. Definitely make for one cool engagement ring though.

Usually meeting before proposing is a good idea though! Well unless you're getting a mail order bride I guess.

Just a thought, if she likes food shopping (like me) then I'd love nothing more than to be taken to a supermarket/awesome deli/whatever/M&S and to choose loads of really indulgent foods like smoked salmon, and some nice cheese and a bottle of wine or something.
But maybe that's a bit romantic and if you're not looking to come accross like that, gah. I don't know. It sounded good in my head. I'll shut up now.

That is a fantastic idea  Thanks

And although I may look mean, tough etc... with the make up and leather, I'm actually a hopeless romantic LOL

Oh, OK. Yay!
I wasn't sure whether you were trying to "woo" her romantically (can't think of a better way to put that, sorry) or just wanted to make a friendly gesture about how much she means to you.
But, food is good.

Well, at the moment we're like best friends, but the meeting is hopefully gonna turn us into an item. I kinda want to make both gestures, which is why I like your idea so much.

Oh, oh, what would be awesome would be some champagne (or sparkling wine), to celebrate your first meeting!!
Aww!
That is a damn excellent idea! Thanks y'all. I love it.

Go get some food and wine or champagne, then go on a picnic somewhere nice and remote. Sounds like a helluva plan to me
