Has anyone got any tips on A-Level essay writing - especially history.
use past papers
practice essay writing
do extra work for the teacher to grade so you know what you need to improve on
i'd recommend starting your revision for exams a few months before your exams and make sure you read through your notes and prepare for your next lesson

depends on the subject, as most subjects structure essays differently! try to ask you teacher for advice on the essay structure (many subjects use structures like PEEEL).
make sure you do a quick plan first, even if its only a few words it can really help if you loose your train of thought, and also helps create a better structured essay overall.
for history it depends on what style essay (we use two different ones) but its very important to avoid just telling the story, make sure you are being analytical and evaluative!!
In most scenarios, historical writing is chronological in nature and the outline of an essay should follow this theme. It is also easy for one's opinion to erode the authenticity of a historical event, therefore research should be thorough. In addition, one should beware spiraling far out from the thesis or stand of the essay as history is quite broad. For A-levels, try constructing short and easily understandable sentences with a clear and logical flow.
