how can i convince my mom to buy me a new laptop?

am a sixth form student, my 5 year old laptop just broke and i need something portable where i can do my business course work. we have an imac downstairs but my sister is always on it for uni stuff. how can i convince my mom to buy me a new laptop? we're not rich so i want my mom to buy me a cheap laptop like a chromebook so i can bring it to my room. my mom always complains about us getting a computer and because apparently we get too distracted from it and it consumes electricity (yes she complains about electricity)
