Your exam board may have published some revision books - I'd say they would probably be the most useful to buy considering everything you'd need to know would be on there. But I'd also recommend CGP, they make the stuff sound funny and interesting at the same time

CGP has always served me well although I'll admit, I barely used revision guides at AS level.

This is for ocr but there's similar brand ones for other exam boards like aqa and edexcel

I've had somewhat experience with studying and I've found these books really help on top of studying the specification, so I would recommend you getting these (on top of studying the textbook very thoroughly):

A to Z biological sciences handbook for all definitions that you need to understand and memorise, MY MOST PRIZED POSSESION!!! :^_^:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Biology-Hand...ology+handbook

BioZone for practise questions
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AS-Level-Bio...ocr+biology+as
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Model-Answer...ocr+biology+as

Some revision guides (get these towards the end of the year to revise, I don't recommend using these to learn new things from except the first one by frank sochacki is amazing, so colourful and concise:

Collins do a good revision book, very condensed and what you need for revision. If you just need a textbook, you cannot go wrong with Muncaster's 3rd edition textbook if you want to delve deeper than the spec.

Muncaster's 3rd edition is so expensive . Collins sounds good.

I was very lucky and snagged a copy for a quid on Ebay, my college also has around 10 copies from when the old spec was still around. See if your college has them in maybe? And yeah, the Collins are great for the little things in revision, it's perfect for it.

Edexcel AS Revision Guide
CGP AS-level revision guide
Alternative to Practical (Physics made easy) by Bassam Saliba (Recommended book for practical for AS/A2)
Edexcel Physics for AS by Hodder Education (Recommended book)

These are absolutely amazing books.
However, do try to solve past-paper questions for better practice, hence, better results! Cheers!
