Accommodation allocation

So according to UoB website, accommodation is now allocated randomly, rather than first come first served. Now I understand the logic behind this, but I find it pretty ridiculous that they allocate students with an unconditional offer first, because a) Birmingham offer a LOT of unconditionals, and b) not every department offer unconditionals, e.g. Psychology (the one I've applied to, hence the bitterness :mad: )

I'm not fussy about which accommodation I get - the only thing I would really like is the meal plan option. However there are only four accommodation options that offer the meal plan, meaning that I could be allocated one of my other two that don't. Do any current students know whether you can specify your preference for meal plan on the form? Thanks in advance.
