Should I go to college then uni, or straight to uni ?

Assuming I get the necessary qualifications for uni this year, should I go straight to uni or go to college for 2 years to gain some life skills, broader qualifications etc. I would probably do a Social Science HND at college and then go on to do History and politics at uni. I want to be a teacher and I am eager to get into teaching as soon as possible and therefore I’m not interested in going to college first if it would not be beneficial. So is college worth it ?
I think that if you are keen to get into teaching as soon as possible then I would go straight to Uni unless there's something invaluable that you'll learn at college or you think you won't get a place at uni unless you go to college.
