A solid, working definition of a democracy? Watch
I think this is mainly because I can't seem to get a good definition of democracy. Most of the ones I can find online seem to disagree with each other, are really unhelpful or even contain elements of political ideology within them.
Can anyone think of a good, unbiased definition of a democracy for me to work with? I feel like only then can I understand concepts like liberal democracy or a socialist state.
One definition I think is okay so far is something along the lines of: "Democracy is a form of government in which either the whole population or certain citizens can participate, usually through electing representatives".
