Define stab(f) = {\sigma \in Sn : \sigma(f)=f}. Show that Stab(f) is a subgroup of Sn. Write down Stab(f) for the following polynomials in x1.......,x4
i) x42+ x1x2x
ii) x1x2 + x3x4

I have shown that Stab(f) is a subgroup of Sn; however, I am unsure as to how to write down Stab(f) for the polynomials

example say \sigma = (1 2 3 4)\in S_4 this would send x_1 \rightarrow x_2, x_2 \rightarrow x_3, x_3 \rightarrow x_4, x_4 \rightarrow x_1

does this help?
