Okay basically I parked my car on a busy high street and when I came back found that someone "accidentally" hit there car with mine, I called the police and they said they cannot do anything about it as no surveillance cameras cover that area, so now I have to repaid it, there is a long line of paint damage and scuffs along the left side of the car and the part below the door handle is dented, with a few more minor dents, now I'm wondering where is the cheapest place to fix this? I don't see why I have to pay for something that is clearly someone else's fault, makes me mad but obviously i cant do anything about it, better than complaining. So my question is where should I go to repair it? Are there any cheap and reliable repairing garages in London/Essex in the UK any of you are familiar with? I'm a young driver so going to my insurer is not an option, would raise my premium, so please give reasonable responses, thanks.

There's a lot of small local garages you could go to. You could always bargain the cost of the repairs And get them to reduce it.

Wouldn't bother on anything minor, will cost a lot for something essentially cosmetic. If you're not minted or fussy I'd leave it.
It's tough but that's why you get insurance and understand risks of public roads.

Saw a van on my road at uni where their wing mirror had been snapped off completely at the base and just chucked next to it. That was charming - must've been awful aim to not just bend it back. Now that's bad.

Also check with nearby shops they may have CCTV.
