I have yet to get official ID but I still get asked how old I am when I buy something that requires ID (young-aged looks run in the family). So, do you think my university pass/ID would be usable?

Uni ID doesn't have your age on, IIRC.

Sadly not..
Firstly, It doesn't have an expiry date on it.
Secondly, people can go to uni age 16!
Finally, it doesn't have your D.O.B on

Sorry, you can't even use them for student discount!

I think most shops will not accept your university ID. But in severe cases if you have nothing else to identify yourself that might be acceptable.

And on my student ID there is not even my birth date so it would not even prove how old I am.

I think most would accept your uni card as ID. If it was just buy vodka, cigarettes from shop etc. I've said before "I've got my uni card on me"
