What are your tips for doing well in essay based subjects at A-level? (e.g. History)

What revision methods have you used/are you using?

I should know, I do 4 essay based subjects. (History, Politics, English Lit, Religion.)
Essay plans were my saviours for AS and will be for A2. Make them detailed.

Set out a structure that you will stick to every time you do an essay from now on (it may vary between subjects). Then, learn it, and practise it.

Plans are the best for me as usually I just remember things from it quite easily. Making spider diagrams are also quite a good way as you can make them colourful and stick them on your walls.
