Room at uni a filthy, dusty unorganised mess!

I know this is weird but mny room at uni is really depressing me.

Before I came here I was a really tidy and organised person, but it seems t hat since coming to uni this has all gone out the window.

My room is constantly a mess, I havent really got a 'place' for everything so my shelves etc are just crammed with junk, and the place gets incredibly dusty.

Every few days I make a conscious effort to tidy it up, but its hard when nothing really has a logical place, I dont seem to be able to use the space I have effectively. Even so, if its all tidy within a few days its back to normal and I cant stand it:frown:

Anytime Im in someone elses room, theyre not always tody but its always organised and things have their place, Its just really making me depressed when I sit in here!

Anyone the same?
Then one weekend put on some music and get tidying. Doesn't matter if there's no logical place - just get things where you know where they are. Pile of papers for work, pile of correspondence, pile of notes... doesn't all have to be excellently filed, just manageable.

If you tidy it up, organise everything and maintain it, I promise you will feel so much better!

Buy some of those funky coloured cardboard boxes and organise your things into there. You can also get those small plastic shelving units that have 3/4 shelves in, they're really handy, they cost about £15 from Argos in all different colours.

It's easy to keep your room tidy. Just tidy as you go, rather than letting it build up. At the end of every day I hang up clothes and tidy my things and it never takes more than 5 minutes. You can buy plenty of cheap storage units and things to hang up, so lack of storage space shouldn't be a problem. If it's making you miserable to be in a pigsty then clean it up!

Maybe because its depressing them?

My room is getting like yours, except I'm not too bothered. I even ran out of shelves so I have a very large pile of T-shirts at the bottom of my wardrobe

The rooms aren't too big so unless you brought loads of stuff with you in shouldn't take too long to clean out
I've found this too, but today I just piled my important pieces of paper into one of those plastic letter trays and it's suprisinging how clear everything is. As someone else has said, if you tidy as you go, i.e don't leave dirty plates in your bedroom *loud cough* then it doesn't take much time at all
