Cany anything be done? Suicide/police issue, advice needed

I wont go into too much detail about this as I dont want to give away the identities of the people involved.

Not long ago someone I knew committed suicide, he was very depressed and had been for a while. He'd been experiencing harassment from some bloke who was forcing him to commit criminal acts that he didnt want to. Everytime something happend, the bloke and his family went to the police but were always told 'we'll look into it', but nothing was ever done.

This accumulated in this person committing suicide as he just couldnt take it anymore.

His family went to the police after his death but they were treated really badly and told that they should just let the matter be.

Is there anything that could be done if they were to make a serious complaint about the harassment of this man to the police, or perhaps complained about the polices' behaviour towards the whole thing?

Someone has lost his life over this and it all seems rather unfair.

Well, the police obviously have an internal investigations unit, or there will be something that investigates complaints about any civil service, obviously.

I think writing letters to local newspapers might be a good start, perhaps.
Good idea actually, about the papers - it will certainly raise awarness and will get the authorities' attention.
Sorry to hear the police are being so unhelpful, especially in the circumstances. Just keep pestering them, hopefully they'll eventually take it up even if it's just to make you go away. Good luck
go to the pcc i think it is, police complaints commission, i think they are independent and look into things properly
