My name is Fred Curtis. I tutor undergraduate maths at the University of Sydney.
I'm visiting Edinburgh for the next week or so and am interested
in offering FREE help to any undergrad students studying for exams.
(This means I can get out of visiting IKEA and clothing stores with
my wife and mother-in-law who are also visiting!)
The areas I can help in are Linear Algebra, Discrete maths, logic,
introductory differential equations & modelling), and bits of vector
calculus, number theory, topology (at least elementary surfaces and
simple knot theory). I also have a background in computer science.
My temporary mobile in the UK is 07999 414765. I'm staying within
walking distance of Edinburgh University main campus and would
prefer to help students at cafes/libraries around that area.
If anyone can suggest a good way of getting in touch with students
(especially first year maths students), I'd be grateful! At Sydney
I do pro-bono work by wandering around library study areas looking
for students surrounded by equations at exam time :-)
