    Hi,

I want to apply for Chemistry with a modern language at the university of Birmingham and the entry requirements state that if you don't have a modern language at A-Level you need at least GCSE grade A in a modern language.

I got a grade B (only 1 mark of an A) but throughout the course i constantly got A*s/As in my exams. One of the teachers didn't mark their classes work properly and didn't follow the rules of the exam board so everyone who took GCSE French that year got marked down, so i actually i would have got an A. The school couldn't appeal against it even though they tried, i cant remember why but they said that the exam board wouldn't allow it.

I've emailed and phoned the university but had no reply and i want to send off my UCAS application this week, so i just wondered on other peoples opinion.

I also took AS French and got a grade D but dropped it.

    Thank you!

Has your referee mentioned this in your reference? Or, if B'ham is the only uni you're applying to with the language, ask your referee to separately email B'ham explaining why you don't have an A at GCSE.

Thank you so much! I'll ask them to email Birmingham
