Few questions please that i wish someone from 3rd or 4th year at Leicester could answer.

    1. Is it true that in the 3rd year hospital attachments start.
    2. Do they provide accommodation in the hospitals
    3. So do we end up paying for accommodation in the halls or private that we wont be using as we signed a contract at the beginning of the year
    4. How did you resolve this issue and not waste money on a flat that was not used.

    thanks in advance

    1) Yes - you are on junior rotation (known as outblock) and can be in the hospitals in Kettering, Northampton, Peterborough & Burton. Each block lasts 7 weeks, however, there is a good chance you will get two in a row and therefore you'll spend 14 weeks away from Leicester and your friends...you can come back on weekends.

    2) Yes, there is accommodation provided for the 7 week blocks for FREE. (apparently that's also how much it's worth)

    3) You pay for accommodation whenever you're not on outblock. So, for 7/14 weeks you're paying for a house that you aren't living in/only living in on the weekends.

    4) You can't, just be glad that they aren't following through with their proposed changes of 5 month outblocks

Is food provided free of charge or reduced rates at the outblock?

Thanks so much for your response

How is the standard of accomodation?

Not as far as I am aware...it's just like living in student housing, you go to ASDA (other supermarkets are available) and prepare it for yourself.

I haven't been on an outblock rotation yet, but, from what I can gather the negative end of variable ...
