In the history boys a lot of the slang the characters use is outdated, for example 'nancy', which is a war time slang word rather than one that would have been popular in the 1980s. What language feature is this, or how do I analyse this commenting on the language?
Would I be able to say its the lexical field of the war time era? Is there such a thing as a lexical field of a time period?
Or is there maybe another name for this sort of technique in literature?
