Anyone got one of these cards?

Are they actually worth a tenner? (can't believe they're charging at all for them! bloody cheek!)

And is it right that you can use them on amazon?!

my local hollywood bowl has a student night (3 games for a fiver) and ask for a NUS card. They wont even take my uni ID as proof which is a bit silly.

so spending a tenner on the nus is worth it for me. depends if you really need it

Lots of places offer student discount so anything you can get for free/cheaper than usual is good!!

don't bother with NUS Extra - most places don't know the difference between NUS and NUS Extra. Just get the free one.

the free one is just a card to prove your a student apprently and the nus extra is the one that holds all the discounts and extra discounts from other places that you couldnt get last year.
you can also get an nus extra card from your student union

I used my NUS card in pizza hut last year - the waitress thought it was an extra card and also couldn't calculate 20%.... She thought the discount was 25% and then asked for the full amount to check it with her supervisor. The full amount was about £12 between 2 of us. She then came back and gave us each 25% back - so basically we got it half price, lol.
My point being, people will probably give you discounts with the free card because they don't know the difference.

I only have my university nus card, it only has a 10 digit number on it but I wanted to purchase some stuff off topshop (need 18 digit no) whilst it is 20% off today (expensive order). Does anyone know how to get around this, do not have an extra card?

I think that's the whole point of the 'Extra' card - you don't get any of the NUS discounts unless you're willing to pay the £10

Good place to ask my question..

Are the normal NUS cards still available? The one's that you don't have to pay for that give 10% off at Topman etc?

I *THINK* to get *ANY* discount you *HAVE* to have the £10 one.

    That's the drift I get.

I'm also highly confused though 'han.
