sunbed/sunbooths - tanning salons.

Hi girls. This isn't a question or asking for advice, but I thought I should post this anyway just in case.
I'm really pale, so I started visiting tanning salons this past month. I used the standing-up booths rather than lying down.

After 5 sessions of going my eyes started going red and SO frickin painful. I was stupid enough to ignore the warnings about taking my contact lenses about before going in the booths and also because I did too many tanning sessions in a short space of time.

The heat in the booth dries your eyes out completely. I wore the eye protection goggles but that didn't protect my eyes from the heat, just protects them from the UV light... so my eyeballs literally dried out and I had to goto Accidents & Emergency at hospital... I'm better now.. been put on eyedrops and ointments for the next 3 weeks and strictly no contact lenses. But if I hadn't gone sooner to the hospital, the inflammation on my eyes could have led to eye ulcers which pretty much sucks.

I was a real dumb*** for bringing it on myself.

Hopefully no one is stupid enough to do what I did... but in case you were thinking about it/are doing it.. stop.

I've been using sunbeds for about 2 years, obviously i go a couple of months without using them to give me a break but i always keep my contacts in and never wear the goggles.didn't realise it was so dangerous!

seriously... ditch your contacts and put on the protective eye stuff... what happened to me sucks like hell and in worse cases it can lead to blindness.

Very sensible advice Anon. Actually apart from what happened to you the damage done to your skin is not worth it. Slapping on one of these new light selftanning lotions is much more health. Sunbeds may make you look good now, but I have seen a few people's skin after years of sunbed use and it looks like leather. Not nice.
