I've recently received an offer for Swansea and was wondering whether the night life there was good?

there is a programme on itv2 about Swansea called freshers. there is a link on another thread here. as a resident of Swansea can i try and help. we do not have an ice rink major international arena or concert hall but have an excellent theatre the grand a casino 2 multiscreen cinemas and ten pin bowling. there is a legendary street in Swansea that has 15 or more pubs and a similar amount of restaurants. Swansea also has its own nightclubs. Mumbles 3 miles from the uni is known for the Mumbles mile of pubs although this has decreased in popularity since Wind Street has taken off. Uplands is increasingly becoming popular with several bars and a lot of live music. bars on wind street include yates Walkabout Pitcher and Piano and wetherspoons plus legendary locally owned pubs and restaurants Ask Frankie and Bennys and TGI Fridays

depends what you want in night life.
Wind street is a quality night out if you're wired for that - Fiction by far is the best club.
Carnage every month or so really does live up to its reputation
But as far as I can think, there is plenty to do, however not very many nice restaurents as far as I can see.
No one really goes to the Uni's club Tooters or Divas, normally people just grab taxis into town in first year.

There are loads of nice restaurants of different type however I suspect most students are not likely to be able to pay the heavy prices involved. Places include La Braseria Hansen at the Chelsea Gallinis Patricks Wild Swan Pizzeria Vesuvio La Parilla. Many of the quality restaurants tend to be out of town either in the Marina or in Mumbles.

the gower was the UKs first area of outstanding beauty and the coastline has numerous beaches including Caswell Langland Three Cliffs Oxwich Port Eynon and Rhossilli which has been voted 9th best beach in the world. an hour to the east lies wales biggest city Cardiff an hour or slightly more to the west lies Pembrokeshire and to the north lie the black mountains and the Brecon beacons. this is the area the sas are trained in amongst other british forces. up towards the beacons lie Dan yr Ogof showcaves and Craig y nos country park. Swansea city is a medium sized city and is the regional shopping centre for south west wales, it does not have a house of fraser store or ikea but all the following shops are present in the city centre, Debenhams, marks & spencer, bhs, next, river island, argos, sports direct, top shop, primark, waterstones, hmv, boots smiths and tescos amongst others. the uni is in a very beautiful area and also a low crime area. there is no reason why you shoud not settle in Swansea as most students do

Wind Street is great, it's fantastic night life imo. It's not too expensive, and there are plenty of clubs which are normally quite full.

In the day, surrounding Wind Street there's loads of nice restaurants and loads of shops.

I would estimate about 8 - 10 clubs on wind street alone, then there's sin city which is the main student club, then there's divas and tooters.

most people surf around the clubs on a wednesday because entry fees are lower than saturday - after a while you'll get used to the idea of pre-drinking at your accomodation, going to a cheap club like Ice for more pre drinks (seriously, double vodka mixer is £2.20, and if you shop around you can find cheaper) and after that you go to your main club. the main ones so far are varsity, idols, revs and fiction.
I personally always go to fiction - 2 large dance rooms - one playing R&B and a bit of rap, the other playing deep house and EDM, alongside a decent bar (wee bit expensive though). However after 11:30 entrance without a wristband (or drunkenly dragging along a rep in a large group) its £5 entry - and that's the most expensive club there

If you pick up pre drinks, add a few cheap mixers and club entry, it should be around £10-15 a night.

Oh and if you want an indicator as to the nightlife reputation - the Wealdstone raider (whatever his name is) is at revs tonight as a guest.

Everything is on Wind Street. On big student nights they close off the street to cars, which means the party can spill out onto the streets. It's a good atmosphere.

Basically, most of the clubbing is done in Wind street over here, and in my opinion Fiction is the best one.
I'm not sure if Oceana is still here, but if you want night life, it's pretty good.
All the restaurants are quite expensive (student-wise) but it really depends where you go, there's Cardiff and Mumbles if you want to go there. It's nice.

But what everyone is saying, look at the Freshers episodes.

It's decent, not as good as Cardiff or Bristol in my opinion but everything's in one place and there's plenty of clubs to go to
