Please take a few minutes to watch the following slideshow. (Turn up the volume).
Hopefully it'll encourage a few more donors - so spread the word if you can!

The only reason Im not tempted to sign up is really weird, it would make it seem even more real that im going to die:confused: Like its confimed or something, im in denial even though I know everyone dies.

Also by the time a lot of people die they will be old and there organs weak. By the way if you sign up can you change your mind?
Thank you
I've emailed that link to everyone on my contacts list. I've been affected by this issue personally (well, a family member has) so its nice to see someone campaigning to raise awareness. =)
I'm on the organ donor register, (and also the bone marrow donation register - the procedure sounds kind of scary, but its something you can do when you're alive!) And I hope this encourages a few more people to sign up! They've started doing the tv adverts for blood donation, haven't yet seen any for organ donation though :frown:

how do you think the people waiting for organs feel?

Generally, donated organs come from people who die young - in unexpected circumstances.

Yes.

Have I convinced you?

It's all about awareness, isn't it? Loads of people support organ donation but never get round to signing up. It's a real shame. :frown:

Something I've always wanted to do... Thank you.
Now I'm just waiting to give blood.

Not sure how true it is but a mate said that when donating you get asked if you have had any illness from birth, whether you were totally formula fed from birth and if you have a family history of cancer etc as this results in the organs being weaker... sounds stupid to me but do they ask you questions like this?

No. See the link in my sig for the registeration details that they ask for - it's generally just the usual personal details that any form asks for, e.g. age, sex, address - as well as which organs you want to donate.

Formula feeding makes organs weaker, who said this:confused: Anyway I'l make a choice when im older, im still too immature and always changing my mind about stuff.
As someone said - it's now your organs would be more useful should you unexpectedly die. If you do change you mind tell your next of kin (they ask for their permission too in the UK) & remove yourself from the register...

Questions they ask/check the history for when the possibility of donation arises are probably much more detailed than the registration type details Qs - TBH, most people registering probably aren't going to ultimately be one.

I'l sign up, but er..what has being formula fed got to do with it where does it say that? Sorry but not got time to read the thread proper.
I'm on the organ donor list because the way I see it is, if I'm dead, I don't need the organs so someone else may as well have them. The thought of it might not be very nice, but it's not something I spend a lot of time thinking about, and the thought that someone might be able to carry on living because of a donation that I might make is a lot nicer  I also made sure I told all of my friends and family so they knew not to contradict my decision should it be necessary.

It has nothing to do with it. (There was a bit of confusion earlier in the thread.)
