Core focuses on one subject like biology or chemistry, but additional science covers more then one topic. They generally cover all science topics.

What is the difference between Core and Additional Science?
In my exam board (AQA), Core was C1, B1, P1 (one module of each science), Additional was C1, C2, B1, B2, P1, P2 (2 modules of each science) and Triple was C1, C2, C3, B1, B2, B3, P1, P2, P3 (3 modules of each science).
There was one exam for each module, and Core is one GCSE, Additional is two and triple is three.

Hope this helps
