Me : I have been told my predictions are B in chemistry, B in english and C in Biology. Is this valid enough to place an application to brighton?

Admissions staff:We recognise that it is difficult to predict A-level grades and do not usually reject an application on that basis unless the grades predicted are Ds or lower, or if the AS level grades attained are Ds or lower.

Yes he has. You can't expect them to decide upon grades alone, so he can't comit to an answer. If he said "yes, its fine" but you got rejected, he may have appeared to offer false hope. All he is saying is that you might as well go for it, as predicted grades are not the be-all and end-all of offering places.

That's a good reaply. That's saying that if the rest of your application is strong than you've got a good a chance as others as getting in.

I wouldn't worry too much about it - you've declined the Ds anyway so they won't even see them

They could probably guess that the other 3 were bad... personally I'm against declining some grades but not others- arouses suspicion..

:ditto: (to mustard man) But tbh with brighton i dont think it'll be too much of a problem. They're usually in clearing for a fair while aswell.

They're basically saying that they don't reject people purely based on grades unless they're Ds or lower. As mustard-man said, they'll probably guess from the fact that you certified English and declined the others that you didn't do very well in them, but because it's only speculation, they probably won't reject you on that basis. You have no predictions of D or below and no certified AS grades of D or below (although you have to declare your E in General Studies if you didn't decline it) so they'll go on other factors like personal statement, reference and interview.

A lot of unis don't even accept General Studies, so no, they shouldn't care too much.
