What people think of me

I can't help thinking all the time about what other people think of me. I'm concious of my actions in case someone can see what I'm doing. If I walk down the corridor at uni (there are peepholes in the door) I'll think, "I wonder if someone is looking at me right now?" I'm worried about people judging me. If someone singles me out in a conversation, like puts the focus on me "you're from Kent aren't you?" or whatever, I'll blush really badly. How can I be more like, care-free and individual, and less shy!!

Just realise that you have nothing to be ashamed/embarrassed about.
You're like anyone else.
I bet some people worry what other people would think about their shoes, but most people probably wouldn't give them a second thought.
If you become the centre of attention in a conversation, just answer the person who is asking, ignore anyone else watching if it makes you uncomfortable.
Just don't worry. Relax and be cool
Talk more, become more confident by achieveing the first and try and get more self confidence by achieveing the first 2  It's a hard one, shyness and self consciousness are rather large obstacles to over come, Good luck  x
It's common for people (esp young people) to suffer from "invisible audience" problems - a feeling that everyone's looking at them when actually they're not! But unfortunately these feelings make shy people shyer.

Why not use some CBT techniques (like thinking 'so what' if I get that being observed feeling) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_therapy

as these can help you overcome some of these issues (but I don't think your mad by the way - i just have the same probs & this has helped me).

If people have a problem with you that is simply their problem not yours.

Bottom line - be confident about yourself..If you love yourself people will find you lovable too ..and if you're not a naturally confident person, nobody has to know but you.
Just be yourself and dont give a **** about what other people think about you..

Mad? what a ridiculous and insenstive choice of word to use in relation to disorders and the therapy to overcome them.
oops sorry - no insult to anyone intended - just trying to help.

Glad you spotted it! What advice do you have for the OP? You sound as though you have experience of this sort of thing?

To be honest with you, it does not matter what anybody thinks of you. You should be happy with yourself, and just be yourself. You are you and that what makes you; unique/an individual. I can't stress this enough, Be Confident! I was like you, worrying what everyone thought about me, but it's not a healthy way to live your life. It just messes you up, and you really should not care what people think about you.

I hope this helps.
