Do you know that water gives you hair cancer?

I dunno. Maybe. I use gel every day, and my hair is always soft when I wake up, and doesn't feel like it's particularly damaged.

Then again, I know nothing about hair care.
why would you think it? All it does it shape the hair....

Its perfectly safe

I cant see how gel could damage your hair, so dont worry.

At most it would leave little bits in it, but that's not a problem if you wash your hair

just another thing.... does it damage your skin on your head or anything if you leave the gel on... i dno just something my mum says to make me not wear gel.
I wear gel nearly every day, have done for a long while and I've never had any problems.

I can't see why your posts need to be anonymous by the way...

Ye the special forces are putting gell in there hair, so when they get captured they simply rub it on the bars and presto.....burns like acid.

Mate its perfectly fine, it doesnt do anything harmful.

I wore gel for 4 years nearly everyday and my hair is fine...
i woudn't advise you to use it daily, because it could make your hair fall out easily, you might not notice it now but when your abit older gradually you may suffer from hair loss but you must use a good quality brand like VO5 or something you can find in the hairdressers.

LMAO, yes it ruins your scalp. That's why it's such a popular selling product.

They do test these things ya know.

Just make sure you don't try combing your hair after the gel has set

I know it can dry your hair out, but since most guys get it cut quite a lot, I'd expect you'd be cutting out the damage quite regularly so it'd never get too awful. If you're growing it out though, chances are you won't be cutting out the dryness and so the drier ends will be more susceptible to breakage and damage. If you don't want the dryness of regular gel, one alternative is to use aloe vera gel, which isn't drying - you can get it at Holland & Barrett, I think.

One of my friends reckoned her hair was thinning with it, but then again she straightens a lot so I wouldn't be surprised if it was that instead.

Hope that helps

If you're getting it from Holland & Barrett then you're probably going to be paying something stupid like 60 quid a tub!

It can damage your hair, yes.

Apparently some gels which are really tough and cause your hair to go rigid are not good it blocks [enter scientific, important needed thing] to your hair.

Hi im 17, male. and just wondering, i have medium long hair so dont need so much gel. apply it everyday.

does gel damage your hair then?

Thanks

No, god help women if it does.
U can use hair gel daily, but make sure u use a good brand (Like L'Oreal, VO5, Wella, etc). Makes sure though, that the gel doesnt stay in ur hair for more than a day. If u apply it all the time, wash ur hair daily and apply it freshly.

As a protective "undercoat" on my hair, I first apply a small amount of Wellaform hair cream, and then L'Oreal gel (usually Studio Line design gel unltra strength, or if i need that gravity-defying style, then studio FX radical gel).

Use gel with caution if u have dandruff or falling/thin hair.
Damages for sure!!!!

Trust me...I've been there unfortunately!
