Anti-UKIP hysteria

Scroll to see replies

UAF and Hope Not Hate are run by Communists. The SWP, for example, states that it stands for "revolution not reform' i.e. a violent civil war (or do you think they mean a twitter campaign?).

30 members of TUSC blocked Nigel Farage in hios HQ in Rotherham but they only got 61 votes as against 1,143 for UKIP in a recent election.

Why should fringe communists + a supportive liberal media be allowed to stir up hatred and violence against a popular democratic party?

Oh yes, to silence them.

Top marks for avoidance, as usual. This is why UKIP cant be taken seriously, other than scare stories they've got nothing.

In any case, I probably don't know best, neither do you neither do most people. As Individual we need to be allowed to choose our own destinies and make our own decisions. The EU has done far, far more to help protect this than the fascists and nationalists you defend, that want to scrap human rights, bring back the death penalty and turn real democracy into direct democracy where the people who pander to hate and fear are the big winners, where everybody is inherently wicked.

(This is where you come in and go "M-m-muh heritage")

They don't want to scrap human rights...the European Convention on Human Rights is redundant because we have our own Bill of Rights.

You just don't trust your own people, do you?

The 1689 Bill of Rights?

This does not come close to offering the protection needed in modern times.

There would pretty obviously be a new one drawn up if we left the EU

I'm skeptical of all sources of power, like any good Liberal. That includes sovereign staes and things like the UN and EU.

The EU has the potential to turn into an undemocratic state. Many of its working are inherently flawed and outdated. In some cases, more could be done to improve its legitimacy (although things are improving in this area). In case you havent noticed, the same could be said of here in the UK. I'd like us to tackle both of these problems instead of shunning one and pretending the other is perfect.

How would that differ from what we already have?

Really?

At the moment, UK courts with UK judges decide these matters. What is wrong with that?

Well that's reassuring.

That's why it's a court. Things like human rights transcend pubic opinion, as public opinion has a habit of going through phases of thinking 'hang 'em and flog 'em' is a good idea.

Have you even read the Convention?

No they don't, rights and values change over time, nothing is concrete. We can draw up our own human rights and control it ourselves.
