Yes. At least 50% of students studying ST102 are Orientals, will work their arses off and all get firsts. That's just the sad fact I'm afraid lol. In some of my Actuarial modules, 60% of people get firsts every year. Perhaps it's not a surrpise that 90% of the people on the course are Orientals.

Is that due to ST102 results or trying to pull MinMin

Hey man she's nice ! =P

Actually, I think a mixture of both. ;o)

50%, wow that very high. However, the 1/2.1 rate at LSE is only 75%. 2nd and 3rd years must really be hard.

Does anyone have statistics for the ratio of 1sts 2:1's 2:2's for AC100/MA100/ST102/EC102 or knows where to get hold of them?

Btw I think 75% with 1sts or 2:1's is pretty good =)

Those statistics about the amount of people getting firsts or 2:1s are massively distorted by Oriental students who pretty much all get firsts, the remaining few getting 2:1s. If there were statistics for British students then it would tell a completely different story.

If you're doing ST102 and Baller has explained how the paper is scored then its no surprise that so many people get 1sts in that module. Firstly, the papers are almost the same every single year, they just change the numbers a bit. Secondly there's 120 marks on the paper but they score you out of 100. So you could throw away 20 marks and still get 100, or you could throw away 50!!! marks and still get a FIRST!

So for ST102, its not just orientals who get firsts, practically anybody who worked gets a first... I'll go on and say I didn't get a first and I blame that on me being the laziest person in class.

They don't list those stats because it would sway students opinions of which module to take because they'll prefer 'easier' modules instead of studying a module because they're genuienly interested in it. If you ask lecturers they'll sometimes give you rough estimates though.

Yeah you can ask the lecturers. That was my standard question in the first lecture of each module this year
