Im drowning :(

I guess this is more of a rant than anything else, constructive advice/critism is welcomed though,
For donkeys I have struggled w/ my education, put it down to many reasons, lazyness, boredom, hating school, not being able to understand the material etc.
but this is where its really important, where it counts, Im in my 2nd yr, but I still cant get it right.
I feel like Im drowning...
I go to uni full time and come home, period. same goes with work.
I feel as if I have no life, which is true... I havent made friends my own age to socalise at my uni(there doesnt seem to be any), and I dont really have any that would socalise outside of work...
I cant get the materical at uni to 'stick' and I find assignments and essays etc incredibly hard.
I guess Im just lazy I dont force myself to do much with uni, but if I dont I wont fullfill my ambitions.
It feels like everyone is gaining 'experience' at uni and having a whale of a time, while Im there just trying to get thru everything while trying not fall asleep.
hmm
why cant I fast forward all this :frown:

Okay, firstly are you a mature student? There should be a community in your uni for mature students.

Also, do you think you could have dyslexia? Perhaps read up on the condition.

Are there any personal problems/difficulties at home which could be hindering your progress?

I was expecting some sort of amusing tale of how you were stuck with a toe in the plug of a running bath or something and this was a cry for help from your laptop....

You can imagine my disappointment....

Go to drop-in sessions at uni if they're available. Lots of students do this. The material will be hard for some and easy for others.
Don't get stresed out by it though and don't think you're alone. Your lecturers will be there to help and I bet your coursemates wouldn't mind lending a hand with anything, talk to them, see how they're finding things.
Set yourself some goals, you paid for this and you want to get something out of it, right?
It might just take some time to get used to the style of work etc, but just keep at it

Peach, Im 20/21 so not really, I may have Dyslexia, but I really need to be screened, but even if Im told, I am.. what are they going to do, squrt glue up my nose so the information sticks? *sigh*
At home, well not so much problems, but I am very easily distracted, between my computer/tv/mum is a huff/brother arguing etc it gets hetic. But saying that I dont feel I can study else where, as Id have to go there, get settled with everything, study etc the pack up and get home :frown:

Im 20,
well its difficult to describe without sounding a little weird, try to create more social friendships when my course mates is difficult when alot are middle aged asian wemon with children or middle aged nigerian men.
Not to say you cant be friends with anyone, but I guess to but plain, they arent interested in friendships... anything more than "where is our next lecture?" is not a pirority to my course mates, maybe thats how I should be.
I looked into maybe finding a vollyball team or group to become more social that way, but my university, I dunno, doesnt seem to bear very well with those sort of things, or maybe Im not looking terribly well
