no its covered in the fees, i still uphold the right to download porn, its a human right
haha....a human right to download porn. I'd love to see you take it to the courts and argue porn is a human right.

It depends how you're obtaining it, if you're going on P2P or using a torrent or acquiring copyrighted material illegally then the university has every right to stop you. Also it depends what you signed when you signed up to the university's internet. I'm not sure JANET accommodates for porn.

I wonder, is it actually impossible to do any sort of research into how widespread the problem of child porn rings has become? I suppose if the person got "official backing" to begin with, and promised to share any information gathered with the authorities.

It is very easy to know which sites you go on, yes.
You ARE going through their DNS servers etc.

Well pretty sure he never got backing, apparantly he was a strange boy for sure.

We had to pay £110 for the year . Expensive, considering it's only 8 months. Considerably cheaper per month than 10MB internet would be otherwise, I suppose, but still - we did have to pay for it so I felt justified in using it for whatever I wanted to use it for.

As for my avatar, look closer!

Yes but hundreds (if not thousands) of people are going through at any one time. If someone gets caught for example looking at kiddie porn, it's probably because the Uni's IP has been logged on the site, and the Univerity has been informed of that and gone back to check their own logs to find the specific computer.

Boys in my flat have been very clever...get the boyfriend of the only girl living in the flat to download it for them!

Uni won't allow it and if caught interent temporalily banned as they don't like you downloading anything.

    Erm...how's that work?

If it's not allowed, it's not allowed whoever downloads it - unless i missed something blatantly obvious there.

Yes. This guy downloads it at home and brings it to them on CDs.

Or, that's how I read it anyway.

That makes more sense. But that's an awful lot of effort and isn't kind of a personal thing as different people are into different things..
