How many points is there at Physics paper 3 ?

I think I lost a few points at physics paper 3. I wondered if anyone know how many there is total there, cus I really did a bummer on paper 2. I want to know what my percentage was on paper 3.

Also, if anyone knows whether they mark every paper separately and then weigh the grades or whether they add the total score I would want to know. I have seen some of the grade requirements but I am not entirely certain how they process the points.

Umm, so how do they mark the exams? Each one individually and then add them up?

yeh, bt they papers have different weightings, paper 1 is 20%, paper 2 36%, paper 3 20% (thats in HL). (rest is the IA)

Ok...I am confused now....do they figure out what grade you get individually in each exam, take the percentage of that and add it all up with the IA to give you a final grade?

lol sorry didnt explain too well..

they correct each one individually, and lets suppose its paper 2. If you got 70% out of the initial marks that it is worth, they turn that into 70% of the 36, so you would have 25 out of 36. They add this to all the rest (with which they do a similiar procedure).

In the end all your individual percentages will come together and make a grade out of 100 - which then determines whether u get a 7..or a 3(for example).

if u roughly wanna work out uer overall grades...
what u do is... take wot u think u got... like paper 1: 30/40
paper 2: 50/80
paper 3: 40/70

i dnot remember each paper specifically...
but then convert them into percent:
so paper 1: 75% (worth 20% of final)
2: 63% (36% of final)
3: 60% (20% of final)
and u got 90% (24% of final) on IA, wot they would do is
(75*.2) + (63*.36) + (60*.2) + (90 * .24)
15+23+12+22 = 72%
and thats ure final IB Physics Score. dam i wish i get that much! 72% is a 5 or a six i would think! anyways.. later, good luck wit exams!

72 is a 6, very close to a 7 actually..at least it was last year
