    How may Hydrogen environments are there on Pentan-2-one? I thought there were 2 but my friend says theres more. what would the ratio of the area under the NMR peaks be?

    there are 4 distinct environments. The H atoms on all the carbons are different.

    The ratio of the areas under the peaks is directly proportional to the number of equivalent hydrogens.
