I have a non-hormonal copper IUD which I've had for about 6 months now and today I found that a string around 2-3 inches long has come out. Does this mean my IUD is out of place? I have not had any pain and I don't think I have bled but I'm on my period at the minute so I can't tell. Should I get it checked out? I'm not having sex at the minute so pregnancy isn't a concern it's just if it could cause any damage to me that I'm concerned.

You need to see a doctor and get it checked asap. They might have to do an ultrasound to check it and will need to remove it if its still there as there's no way of checking it.
