Same in my area. Most 6th forms suck compared with SUPER COOL COLLEGES.! Im happy I went to college over 6th form because I wanted to get out and go somewhere new, after 5 years I could not be more happy to be free!! (I enjoy rubbing it in) Anyway yeh your proberly stuck.
You could do what a lot of people do is to stick out the year and swap over to the college and do A2 next year.

I regret it, but so do all my mates, so it's all good.

I wanted to change for A2 but I thought I was better off staying put.

yee i considered doing that but realistically its not worth changing exam boards coz then im not allowed to take any re-sits...eeh guess im gonna have to make the most of what i've got and look foward to uni!

I was also stuck in Yr11, i decided on choosing the 6th form, i'm 100% sure i made the right decision, such a change compared to the school (Yr7-11). It's a tough decision, not everyone gets lucky :frown:

I remember having to make the same decision. In the end i decided to move and go to a college after yr 11 instead of staying in the sixth form. It was fairly difficult at the time because so many people i knew were staying on, and also i had built some good relationships with some of the teachers.

But in the end, education is the most important thing. So i decided to go to a college which would easily help me to achieve better grades. As it so happens , ive made quite a few good friends, and many many aquaintances from other areas. I dont regret it. As i'm now in a good position applying for my favoured uni's, ive had a great time, and i've also learnt how to work independently and not be spoonfed. PLus the school sixth form had to be shared with all the school children :p:

But make the most of a 'bad' situation. Keep working hard to try and get good grades. But also have a good time with your current friends. Its hardly a disaster, as you'll have plenty of other more significant opportunities to meet new people later on in life

I loved my sixth form!
We had small classes and everyone knew each other. I liked the fact that I already knew the teachers and they were more like friends to us.
Ahh, the memories....

I like my sixth form alot too!

The learning part is okay... the best part is the people!! Haha. if you know me you will know I'm crushing so bad at the moment.

For me, the education wasnt the most important factor coz I'm quite an independent learner. Plus being at a not-so-good school gives me alot of opportunity since others dont want them anyway.

I wouldnt regret it to be honest there are lots of good things about staying on at a school also a few bad. I bet you could be in a lot worse school so dont worry just study hard and get the grades you want then meet new people at university.

Reply 9

I wish I stayed at the school I done my GCSEs at.

Reply 10

Yeah I don't like it really. I looked at other places but none in my area did Media, Drama and German together, they were always missing one. I couldn't leave my language teachers though- I love them to bits!!

I had a huge dilemma like that at the end of Year 11...however I evetually chose to stay on. And I know I've made the right decision, I'm having a whale of a time. But I also have friends who wish they'd gone elsewhere, it's all different I'm afraid.

im soooooooooooo gutted:frown: i couldn't decide at the end of yr 11 whether go to college or stay on because i was scared i wouldn't like the people at college and eventually decided to stay on. but i just cant stand everyone there, they're all so immature and all the classes are huuge. ALLL my friends that went to the college i was thinking of going to (woodhouse) all looovve it and say everyone there's so friendly and way more mature and there's partys all the time ect ect. and urgh im just so annoyed that i've gotta wait another 2 years to get out of my stupid school and meet some new people:frown: anyone else here feel they've made the same mistake? i wish i'd decided earlier..it's half term tomorrow, ive already handed in c/w so its to late i guess to bother moving:frown:

Ah Woodhouse, thats near me, few of my friends went there

what sixth form are you currently going to by the way ?

Hey i had that exact same feeling last year when some of my close mates left! (coincidentally with the exact same college, where u at now?!)

I just got too comfortable and lazy to apply, so i stuck with my 6th form....which has its ups and downs, but after youve been at a place for so long you do build up an affection for it! I dont have too many regrets now, except maybe it would have been nice to meet loads of new people but theres plenty of time for that!!

Its only because you just started and the grass seems greener right now, after one year of hearing how amazing the place was my friends say they are sick of the place now lol!

o complete ditto-ations! I couldn't decide but in the end I decided to stay put, especially as that was what all my closest friends were doing. It has it's ups and downs - i love some of my subjects and teacher, tho i casn find it a bit same old same oldy - still we shall see!

Leaving my old shcool at the end of year 11 was very hard! However after settling into my new college i am so happy i have moved. Otherwise i would not be working hard. I have actualy changed my whole attitude and outlook on education aswell.

So i am glad i left anyway i dont think my old grammar school would have let me back in!

I'm only in year eleven right now, but in a way I can see myself perhaps in your situation in a year. I've always really liked my school, but recently it's started to seem a little too.. familiar in a way. Doing GCSEs I think has kind of exacerbated it as well, because as opposed to taking 16 subjects as we did in years 7-9, we're now only taking 11 odd subjects; and we have some subjects like Science every day. So every day just seems to.. blur together.

So I'm really not sure what to do. I always thought I'd definitely stay at my school if I got the grades (straight Bs to stay on), but now I'm starting to wonder if a change of scenery might be beneficial. It would be awful leaving everyone at school though, especially some of the teachers who are fantastic. I really don't know what to do..:frown:

Exactly- I think I will stay on, but I'm wondering whether I'm as happy as I always thought I was. Our sixth form open evening is on 8th November, so it's pretty soon like yours. Lots of colleges in my area have already had their open evenings, but I couldn't go due to coursework.
