My Dad has been such a miserable SOB all day, even moaning that my mum hasn't cooked dinner on time etc.

He gets no enjoyment of Xmas (which is fine as I don't either really), but he DELIBERATELY RUINS the atmosphere for everyone else, and I think it is so WEAK.

Next year I just wanna be somewhere else.

Anyone else have parents like this?

Some people do genuinely just not enjoy Christmas and struggle with it.

But to bully your wife and kids on Xmas Day so they go to bed thinking that the day has been rubbish?

    My dad is a disgrace.

Whether I like it or not I always try to get involved with the family and buy gifts for the sake of them. Family come first so he is selfish for not taking one for the family.

Don't get me wrong, I totally disagree with the behaviour. But I also understand that from a mental health perspective some people who are struggling with things can find christmas very difficult to control their behaviour. There's normally more to people behaving unreasonably than them being ********s.

Yep, since my parents split up he just comes round to prove a point but ruins the whole atmosphere until he goes home.

Well my Dad enjoys christmas very much but he's a very honest person and he'll tell you if he doesn't like something. So he sometimes makes things a little uncomfortable, but he's so innocuous in his intentions that he gets away with it.
