Okay, I'm currently an AS Chemistry (Edexcel) student and have indulged myself into the subject and enjoy it quite a lot.

I've looked at A2 Chemistry stuff as I'm planning on taking the subject forward next year and have looked at the Edexcel Chemistry Textbook that Sena5 uploaded on the forum somewhere.

I looked it at it and it looks like a whole load of Maths and looks really really complicated. How difficult is it compared to AS?

Obviously it looks complicated. You haven't been taught any of it yet.

I did AS and A2 Edexcel Chemistry. People tend to find the acid-base equilibria topics the hardest. But if you go through it slowly, understand it and do some practice, it should be manageable.

Focus on getting good results in AS first. No reason to think about A2 until you start doing it.

Guess so

Am focussing on AS first but just wanted to see what's in store for A2 though

tbh it's not too bad. unit 4 is actually very easy to grasp and the questions are very repetitive every year. i would say nmr can have some complex questions but with practice you should be fine. organic chemistry is all about memorizing, i recommend you have a list of all of the organic functional groups stuck on your wall (even at AS). Unit 5 however is something else. the topics are much harder than any AS or unit 4 topics. you would need a good teacher or tutor to help you guide through it. Once you start A2, AS will seem to be walk in the park...

I do WJEC, and AS is nothing compared to A2. AS is ridiculously easy compared to A2, looking back. Different exam boards, though!
