This isn't a go at Americans, btw, just something I've noticed in some of them.

Some Americans seem to hate the UK almost as much as some British people hate France. Why? It seems to be jealousy a lot of the time, but TBH (not ragging on us here) America is bigger/has a lot more to explore etc. than the UK. Is it our history or reputation or what?

Yippee! A more civilised comparison thread for a change!

To answer your question: I think it's to do with our NHS.

Americans don't hate the English nearly as much as our country hates them. It seems to be the 'cool' thing to do in aligning with Russia/Palestine/InsertMiddleEastCountry and ragging on the US.

As for jealousy, some of them view the English as quintessentially posh, rich, cultured and other notions within the stereotype. They also have an unhealthy fixation with the monarchy.

Just because you criticise the US doesn't mean you support Russia/Palestine/etc. The US governments total lack of respect for international law, total hypocrisy when it comes to the 'free market', ridiculous attitude to socialist ideas and ludicrous deference to religion more than makes them worthy of hefty criticism.

It's usually the other way around. Someone supports a country, and that support leads them to hate the west, which then leads them to hate the US. By all means, criticize the US for it's many flaws, some of which you accurately listed, but I feel the whole anti-western hipster nonsense that plagues teenagers in many countries just boils down to 'they just care about oil hurr durr!'.
