    Here goes

    RULES:

Rules courtesy of last year's thread(!), hence why they are male focused! Anyone can participate

    Spoiler:
    Show

    -
No touching whatsoever (except for clear and non-sexual reasons/purposes - e.g. shower etc).

    - No stroking whatsoever.

    - No auto-fellatio whatsoever (who in the hell can do that anyway? )

    - No porn whatsoever

    - No ejaculation unless with another person (obviously you can't help wet dreams)

    - If you want to participate, post when you are starting, what your reasons are and any fails later on.

Just enjoy your horniness lads and let that productivity, motivation and confidence rocket up and see your positive social interaction and confidence with girls exponentially increase!

Also this isn't just pure abstinence; it's a complete redirection of energies. This means - be a bit more daring, heroic, do more sports, go out more, socialise more and more with females or males and increase confidence and dominance

    Why do this?

    Spoiler:

Right, this is for those of you who don't understand why many of us are on this journey, and also some motivation for those who are joining in. I'd like to point out that both men and women are welcome.

Anyway, fapping or schlicking (the female term) is something we've probably all discovered when we were much younger. It makes you feel good, you can do it alone, and it's free.

There are many reasons people fap, and since doctors have said masturbation can be healthy, there doesn't seem to be a downside. Or at least, not one that many people have realised. We've all heard that you can have 'too much of a good thing' and masturbation is no exception. When we fap, dopamine (the feel-good hormone) is released and we feel good. The problem is, nerve cells lose their sensitivity to dopamine the more they are exposed to high levels of it. Therefore you need to fap more to get the same good feeling. Obviously this can become a cycle and with dopamine being such a powerful chemical, it can become very easy to develop an addiction.Like any addiction this has negative effects. Having to go without can lead to feelings of anxiety, irritability, restlessness and general poor mood or even depression. Not only this, but fapping can consume a lot of your time if it's a frequent thing.

Another big downside is that our sex drive is the motivation to get out of the house, and meet people, to find a partner. If we fap, there's no desire left to go out and try and meet people to have sex with. Fapping is the lazy alternative to get your rocks off. If you don't give yourself an alternative way of satisfying your sex drive, you'll get out in the world and meet real people to have sex with.

Here's the part that might actually get your attention. Fapping can overstimulate your genitals and desensitize them. For guys, this means you're used to grabbing your junk with a tight "death-grip" and jacking away. When having sex with a woman you're not experiencing that extremely tight grip, with the repetitive motions exactly how you're used to it and it can be hard to stay aroused. That's right, I'm talking about erectile dysfunction. For girls a similar thing can happen, if you overstimulate your clitoris it can be hard for a guy to get you off without knowing exactly the pressure and speed that you're used to in order to orgasm.

Now, there's not a lot of empirical evidence on the benefits of not fapping, but there's a community of over 40,000 "Fapstronauts" on Reddit who have a fair amount of anecdotal evidence. Here are some of the things you may achieve from "Fapstinence":

    • Increased energy levels
    • Increased motivation
    • Increased confidence
    • Increased enjoyment of real sex
    • Increased willpower
    • Increased focus
    • Clearer state of mind
    • Decreased social anxiety

I don't expect everyone to change their opinions on masturbation. You may not believe in the benefits until there's strong empirical proof for the benefits of NoFap.

If you're unwilling to sacrifice just 1 or 2 weeks to try it yourself, that's absolutely fine. One thing I ask however, is that you refrain from trying to discourage anyone who does want to try this challenge. It's not for everyone, it takes a LOT of willpower, and the simplest of distractions (images, GIFs) can lead people off course.

    Thank you for reading.

The nofap reddit thing. Some very useful stuff on here http://www.reddit.com/r/nofap

It is a difficult journey and I know this from personal experience. This is an interesting piece of information from the previous thread.

On the 7th day of no fapping, your testosterone can spike by up to 145% so you may REALLY have the urge to fap. On day 8 though it starts to drop back down again to near normal levels, so it's a case of gritting your teeth for a bit and just riding out the storm. (Credit goes to "RichyFrench")

Here is another piece of useful advice for our participants, this time from a previous participant ("0906079" ):

I just want to remind everyone of this; DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO JUSTIFY FAPPING NOW. Don't say, oh it's been a week maybe I should start properly from Monday. Don't put yourself in that mindset where you feel like it'd be a good idea to fap right now and start this over again later. That's a loop that can never be broken. Remember that cravings only last for 180 seconds so if you feel like you're about to relapse, go outside quickly and take a 5 minute walk. Call your friend for 5 minutes. Do anything to keep yourself busy for the next 5 minutes until it isn't the strongest thought in your mind anymore and you can think rationally again.

Remember all the regret and shame that follows after you masturbate? Make sure you never feel like that again. This applies to every milestone or "special" time; a week, a month, your birthday, a particularly bad day, a "celebration" moment, like after you finish your exam one day. If you fapand justify it by saying I'll start all over again, you will NEVER get out of this cycle. You might as well just give up and fap everyday if that's the mindset you have because you won't succeed. And most importantly, do NOT get complacent. You might think you've gone a while without fapping/porn now and watching a little bit, or stroking your **** for a while won't lead to anything but trust me these are triggers that will eventually lead you to watch that "just a bit more" and stroke it "just a bit faster" until you break nofap.

    TESTIMONIES FROM PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS:

    Spoiler:
    Show

HFerguson: "Call me a ****ing retard, but I genuinely think this no-fap is black magic.

Today I was just having effortless anxiety-free conversations with people. I don't have social anxiety (ok, maybe the normal amount everyone else has), but my background anxiety just wasn't there today. For example, had a conversation with a girl this morning (totally platonic), who I've only ever spoken to once. Usually I'd be too nervous to speak to her cos she's shy and I hardly know her, and the last time I spoke to her I was super awkward, but today I just had an effortless conversation with her. Then I thought to myself, “something was missing... I wasn't anxious". It was really... odd."

Jaegon Targaryen: "The few times that I've actually done it to challenge myself , periods lasted for about 4 - 6 weeks I was an absolute beast , I found myself physically stronger then i'd ever been and my interactions were better then ever ."

Miser: "I think that if I was to critically assess it all, I'd say that nofap was one of many things that has helped me improve myself over the year. It was one self-discipline challenge among many (though it was probably the hardest). I think that confidence is more of a habit than anything. It's won through tiny increments over time by expanding your comfort zone and refusing to let it retreat again. I've done a lot of things that have had this effect - I've taught aikido lessons, chatted more to girls, got involved more with TSR, improved my wardrobe, etc. In the past week I've had dates with 3 different girls. I'm not a different person or anything, but I've let myself become more expressive and taken more risks.

I can't credit nofap because I don't know how much it played into it, but anything that gives you a feeling of accomplishment and a sense of control over yourself is a good thing."

An interesting post from Reddit user Easton_Danneskjold:

I relapsed after 37 days. Once you relapse it’s so hard to get on a long streak again, your brain will rationalize ”one more time, then we’ll start over again – hey, what does it matter, you only got 3 days…”Had to reset again yesterday. Read something in this book I’m reading about neurology that changed everything. I suddenly realized NoFap is serious, dead serious. Check this out.

A scientist mapped the brain of a Silver Spring monkey. He did this by opening the brain up and stimulated the monkey’s thumb, then analyzed where in the brain neurons fired for the thumb. He did this for the pointer, middle finger and so on. His findings were remarkable at the time: he found that the neurons that fired when the thumb was stroked was right next to the neurons that fired for the index, which was next to the ones that fired for the middle finger and so on. They were aligned.

Next they sewed the index and middle finger together on the monkey (quite cruel actually) and waited for two months. Then they opened the brain up again. They stroked the thumb and saw the neurons fire at the same place as before. Now they stroked the index finger, which had been connected to the middle finger for two months, and they were amazed to find that the brain had reorganized itself, so that there where there used to be two separate neuron maps for the index- and middle-finger, there were now just one big map.

Neurons that fire together wire together! Some professional guitarists also experience this when they get something called focal dystonia when they can’t move two fingers separately, only as one unit. When neurons fire together they also wire together.

This means that if you watch porn, which more often than not have dominating, humiliating, degrading and violent themes - you not only experience sex and violence together – you rewire your brain and change the neuron structure each time so sex and violence wire together in your brain. No wonder a lot of NoFappers here testifies that they experience ED (which to be blunt is euphemism for impotence).

When we watch porn we not only experience it, we rewire our brain. Each time we watch porn we strengthen this connection. Each time we ejaculate dopamine is flushed into these connections, further wiring them together, acting as “glue” since pleasant experiences get wired more easily.

Getting hard when in a normal relationship with a girl will be just as impossible as for the monkey to use his fingers individually. If after two months the monkeys fingers had merged into one neuron map, what do you think years and decades of porn will do to your brain? Without the pornographic themes you won’t get hard. Fortunately you can unlearn these behaviors and change the neuron maps back, this is what NoFap does – we all have to realize this is dead serious.

The day before yesterday was the last time I ever watched porn.

    THANKS

Also if you are in, then mention when you are starting otherwise I will put the current date by default. Also remember, if you're serious about this, start this minute, no last faps, no farewell faps etc.
