New Look store card...

Hey I was just wondering if anybody else had recently opened a New Look store card, cos I opened one about 6 weeks ago, only because they said that you get a free pair of shoes within 7-10 days. Anyways, today instead of a voucher for free shoes, I got a scratchcard for either free shoes, free jeans or 15% off my next purchase using my storecard. And guess which one I got? And guess which one my friend got? What a con! I don't even like New Look (apart from shoes), and now all I got is a 15% off voucher! How crap!! Grrr angry.

That really does suck, I wonder if anyone got the free shoes or jeans...like one person or something, probably none as no one will ever findout that no one wins the shoes or jeans. It's a massive con! At least you've still got 15% off something, which is better than nothing, but still a con! :frown:

Did you read the T and Cs?

Check them out.

And then cancel your card. Do you really need to take on debt to shop at New Look only? Tell them why you're cancelling. And continue to cancel.

Hey, you should go instore and complain. I remember the girl behind the till asking me if i wanted one, because "you get a free pair of shooooes...!", so theyre obv telling everyone the same thing.

Stay away from store cards....they are really, really bad. The interest on them is insane. Avoid at all costs!

I hate the New Look storecard. I had one a while back and had nothing but trouble for it (they were charging me for stuff I had taken back, and it went on for 6 months +) , so I cut it up and dont use it anymore.

The staff seem to be quite pushy about the card IMO, today I went in and when the woman on the till asked me if I wanted one I said "no thanks, I already have one" and then she was like " well if you've got one, why arent you using it today then?" in a really sarcastic tone!!!

I only get store card for buying expensive things like shoes or coats, then i pay them off straight away and never use them! I have them from miss selfridge, warehouse, and topshop though. hmm, methinks i should cancel them

oh, and i used to work at new look, the staff discount was AMAZING! I miss it

I have a Warehouse store card that I practically never use since a lot of stuff from there is too expensive; I also just got a Dorothy Perkins card from there since I buy quite a lot of stuff from them (and yes I'm planning to pay off the full balance every month thanks very much :p:

).

I just applied for a new look card today (only cos the worker was kind of forcing me to ;( ) iv read the comments and reviews and im having second thoughts now. Its sounds like its rubbish..i dont even understand how the whole thing works..???
Does anybody know how to cancel the card???

wow this is an ooooooooold thread.
You don't need to 'cancel' it - just wait until the bill comes through (for whatever you put on the card in order to get the card in the first place!), and go straight into a New Look store and pay it using a debit card. You won't be charged anything extra unless you are a) late paying or b) don't pay at all.
You then don't have to use the card ever again - just cut it up and that will be that.
Store cards are only a bad thing if you are stupid with them. Only spend what you've actually got and it isn't a problem.

aw, thats rubbish if thats what they're doing now. i was considering opening a new look card in the near future (there's a ton of clothes i want in there for starting my new job in a few weeks!) just to get the discount then pay it off right away. but if they're doing this silly scratchcard thing now, i don't think i'll bother!

Hehe I started this thread over two years ago! How weird it's been revived.

Store cards=GOOD, if you pay them off in full each month and have some self control

Store cards=BAD, if you're like me, and buy loads of stuff on them and then only pay the minimum repayment each month! Learnt my lesson now, cut them all up! :smile:

Now if you open a store card you get 10% or 15% off your purchase at the time you open the account and a 20% off voucher in the post with your card.
