What are the policies regarding the aforementioned? I am going to study in the UK and I don't want to fined due to lack of knowledge. Let's face it, how many people are willing to buy music and movies when they can download it for free?

    Thief.

May as well walk into a department store and help yourself to the DVD's and CD's off the shelf.

    Exactly the same thing.

Obviously I would never, ever, ever download music illegally, ever! :nah:

Most people do it and get away with it...

I'm 90% sure that recently the government basically turned around and said they aren't going to bother trying to prosecute individuals for illegally downloading/streaming films...

However, they actively block/try to shut down sites that host illegal content, and ISP are legally bound to not provide access to these sites. Obviously they are still easy enough to find

You've already identified that it's illegal, so don't do it.
