# trig equations...? watch

1. y=3sin(x-pi over 6)+5 for 0<x<2Pi

1) The maximum occurs when x= 2 Pi over 3

I am utterly lost as to why this is true.

Pi over 6 is 30 degrees.

I wondered if maybe the CAST diagram would be of relevance here?

when x =2π/3
2π/3 - π/6 = π/2
sin(π/2) = 1

so sin(x - π/6) =1

so 3sin(x - π/6) =3 which is the maximum value (occurring when x =2π/3)
