I am currently on the carezette pill and about 2days ago I forgot to take one before having unprotected sex, roughly 20minutes after sex I took a pill and as soon as I had taken it for the next few hours I suffered pains simular to period pains but a little bit worse just in the same area, what does this mean? And should I get emergency contraception?

Just to clarify... you are taking the pill at the same time every day and not just before you have sex, because thats not how it works.

Possibly the pain is down to the sex - was it particularly vigorous?

Carezette is a progesterone-only 'mini-pill' and wants to be taken at the same time every day. If you are more than twelve hours late, you need to use another form of contraception for seven days... was this more than twelve hours?

You're at the edge of the period where hormonal emergency contraception will have any effect. If you are determined to use emergency contraception, ask about having an IUD fitted. Amongst other things, this will also mean you don't need to take the pill any more.
