I absolutely hate changing gears on steep hills. I always screw it up. Can I go up a hill in gear 2 and then change to 3 once the hill has evened out, or would that be a gear fault?

    EDIT

My instructor always tells me to try and stay in 3rd as often as I can, even on hills, but the car just loses speed and can't make it to the end in most cases. I can just stay in two for the entire hill right?

Depends at the speed and steepness. Probably best to shift to second and put your foot fully down. If it's not too steep could do it in 3rd I suppose.

Lol no point keepin it in 3rd if it's gonna chug to the point of stopping/nearly stalling, but 2nd all the way is revvy
And I usually keep in 3rd till half way up.
Just accelerate hard(ish) before changing down, no getting round it
