# AQA Physics PHYA5 - Thursday 18th June 2015 [Exam Discussion Thread] watch

1. (Original post by Tomh97)
1u = 1.661*10-27
1u= 931.5MeV
This is on the data sheet so no need to worry!
2. Ratio of 2:1
June 14 paper, calculating mass lost on 1biii) why do you multiply binding energy by 1.6x10^-1? Where did they get that number from?
energy released is Mev*1.60*10-19*1.0*10^6 because mega electron volts

191*1.60*10-19*1.0*10^6= 3.06*10-11
E=mc^2
m=E/c^2
m= 3.06*10-11/ (3.0*10^8)^2
= 3.4*10^-28

is that alright?

Ah yeah makes sense now thanks
5. anyone doing turning points?
6. How likely is the derivation of the ideal gas law to come up?
7. Very likely, don't think I've seen a question come up in it before
8. Yes

0.
10. Why am I getting up at 2am to revise for an exam I'm FAILING!!??

With a paper written last minute?? Likely
12. Explain the electron beam experiment in key bullet points
13. Please can you help me with 2b II thanks ☺️
14. It's safer to multiply by 931.4 MeV, plus thats what the data sheet says, good luck

(Original post by MrKlaus)
does anyone know if you times the atomic mass unit by 931 or 931.5 to give the energy in MeV?
15. (Original post by Ilovemaths96)
June 10 - nuclear reactors and fission
June 11 - how a gas exerts pressure
June 13 - verifying types of radiation emitted by a source

June 14 - nuclear waste

June 15 - maybe something about gases?
Thank you so much. And yeah exactly what I think, the laws maybe and what the conditions are for an ideal gas

What would you put for the conditions for an ideal gas? The kinetic theory assumptions?
17. any idea what sorta definitions they might ask for?
18. anyone got tips on how to approach questions to do with specific heat capacity and specific latent heat? e.g. the one on the june 2014 paper

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant hahaha. Just slowly loosing it after having biology yesterday....

I thought the physics ones weren't stolen though
