I'm doing Computer Science MSci at Birmingham - I don't even need my Computing grade, I'm in already >.<

Still good to try your best though
That's so cool! Yeah I needed AAA which was relatively easy to achieve this year due to my AS results but I still have it my all which felt good good luck with results and Birmingham!

    Ahh i did
-cannot feel/touch/smell item, so cannot get a sense of size, weight, or other aspects
-credit card info or identity info may be stolen
-can have a negative impact on health and sense of community/being social
-delivery waiting time, possible delivery charge, packages may get damaged in the post or you may not be in to receive them

i assumed that last lot would only count as 1 mark, would be good if they were all separate
I'm sure if you explained them all you'll get all marks to be honest?

While i remember, how did everyone find the "drawbacks of online shopping" question? it was 6 marks, but i only could think of 4 points, which i tried to expand on, how did everyone else approach this?
Are those questions always one mark per point? I made 3 points (and explained them) in the hope I'd get 2 marks for each, but I lose track of how WJEC marks this sort of thing.

Might sound a stupid question but you know that one about it being a specialised field - what did you all say?

Hey, sorry for wall of text, but I really need some support with something. It concerns this exam.

I have extra time, use of a laptop and rest breaks for exams, and I really needed them today because Computing overloads my mind with so may ideas that I get confused when forming answers. Not to mention that I needed to raise my mark from 110 to 128 UMS. Trying to do the impossible left me a bit stressed out.

I get 25% extra time and 25% rest break time, and I was in a separate room with four other people. The two behind me had the same arrangements.

During the exam, I use my rest breaks. The system here is that we write down when we started our break, write down when we finished, and write down how long the break was. I used up all 25%, in regular intervals, trying to calm myself down and get myself to focus (ADHD sucks when you're not being treated).

It's come to the end of my extra time, and I'm starting the last question, the 12 mark essay on software devtools. We had a new invigilator for this exam only, who dismissed the other guys in the room, then came to me and asked if I really needed 45 minutes to finish the exam. I initially though they were conscious of another exam, but I said it was most likely (I planned the essay: I would probably have been out in 20 minutes but I wanted to be safe). The next thing they did had me internally panicking for the last 45 minutes.

She said she had to report me to the exam board because she wasn't convinced that I was not working during my breaks. They said that all they could here from my direction was typing throughout the whole exam (disregarding the two furious typers behind me while they was sitting at a desk in front of me, playing with blu-tack and doodling inattentively might I add, I watched them[the invigilator] for ten minutes during a break), and they also noted that I fidgeted a lot (ADHD does that to a person). I tried to explain myself, but they weren't having any of it. They said that I could complete the 45 minute rest break time, and that they would report me as well.

I didn't protest further because my mind went completely blank. I had worked so hard for this exam, and now my mind was going into full panic mode. I've never visibly shaken in an exam before like that. I barely completed something that I planned to take 20 minutes because I couldn't see though the panic.

Do you guys have any idea about what might happen to me, or what I could do? And would this affect all my other exams? I wouldn't mind resitting, if I hadn't already re-sat A2 this year.

I may be wrong but I mentioned the complexity of the coding due to the risk of human life or something along those lines since the gates could fail and the train may crash. Again not certain if thats correct but it is what I pretty much write for any situation for a question that asks about the specialised fields

This sucks dude, I'm sorry to hear that. It's not fair. I have extra time too so I know your situation. I've been asked before whether I really need the time by the invigilator. It's like "well, they don't give it to me for nothing?!"

Personally I'd recommend you email WJEC with this information. You don't have to provide full personal details if you don't want to but maybe just ask what would happen hypothetically in the situation of a candidate being reportaed for this.

There's no point composing a mark scheme for anything WJEC unless you can get exact wordings from previous mark schemes. They have to be very specific so the unofficial mark scheme must have the exact answers, there's no point giving your point of view of what you think the answer should be. It'll end up making a few feel bad or perhaps, some feel cocky.

Should you still disregard that and create one, I suggest highlighting the previous official mark scheme answers and keeping your interpretation of the answer separate.

Yeah man I only intended on copying and pasting the identical questions from previous years? Most of them were repeats anyway.

I think I like this idea best. I'vw looked at JCQ's malpractice regulations but they dont cover somethibg like this. Though im not sure if they wont ask me for personal info.

They won't ask for personal information, don't worry. Even if they do, you have no obligation to give it to them.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If anything, you could report them, that's rather off-putting when doing the exam. 3 hours alone is an excessive time anyway, you have 25% extra time + time for breaks, I really doubt they'd think you were cheating. Even if you were still thinking about the problem, I don't think that's a crime and exam boards must have already taken those things into account, otherwise they wouldn't offer it.

Contacting them would be your best bet, even if it's petty, better to alert them first.

Thank you so much! Though i think question 6 is wrong? Shouldn't Khan be on the right of Jarvis as K comes after J in the alphabet? if I'm wrong i look like an idiot. XD

Also question 13, the answer you've given is only 7 bits, the actual answer should be 8 bits!

Also question 15, it states "If see 00000100and correct conversion to -5" - should that not be 00000101?

Also i believe question 7 was actually 2 marks

Hahaha! Yes you're right - I was so preoccupied with making the tree that I forgot the alphabet...

I think you get the mark for correct binary version of 4 in denary as well as what it converts to when added

I'll check out the sign and magnitude one - it should be 8 hits with the first left bit being a one. So 8 bits in total, 1 for the sign and 7 for the number

    Thanks!

Good work there, thanks. AlthougI haven't had time to look at the db question properly, if a teacher can be employed more than once (and therefore have more than one contract) then contract shouldn't be in the teacher table, teacher should be in the contract table instead. The wording of the question was ambiguous though (does a module use only one skill? Can that skill only ever be used in one module? Can a teacher have more than one skill? etc. etc.)
