I only know a little bit about this because I did my elective there. From what I know it's ridiculously competitive for Canadian grads (let alone IMGs) to get residency posts in the top cities. If you're not interested in doing a residency, you still need to do the MCCEE (canadian equivalent of the USMLE). Also I believe you also need to have obtained your CCT from the specialty training you've done here. Once you've done both of those you can apply for provisional registration with the province you wish to work in. They set you a period of time in which you're required to sit the qualifying exams to gain full registration for independent practice in Canada.

Don't think it's actually possible to work there straight after FY2 if you're not applying for a residency post. I think you do need a CCT. Would read around and do more research though.

Maybe consider applying for a fellowship, but again I'm not sure if you need to have got CCT to be eligible. Maybe not, or maybe depends on the province.

Not sure if locums would count. If you have an idea of where abouts in Canada you would like to work, go to the college province's website e.g. British Columbia, Ontario because each one has specifications on recruitment for IMGs.

    ok.. thanks for the input!!

I'll definitely look around the specific websites!!
Its kind of odd though, they dont have any national guidlines!! varies from province to province!!
