Hey Guys;

Well, I am a registered organ donor and wondered how many other people are registered organ donors here, and so I put together this thread with a poll (which will appear shortly after making this thread).
So, which one of the options are you and why did you choose that option?

I became an organ donor at the start of 2014. It was always one of those things I meant to sign up for but never got around it. When my papa got put on the transplant list for a new kidney, liver and pancreas it motivated me to finally sign up. He's lucky he can live through dialysis at home until a transplant but others aren't so lucky. I was surprised how quick and easy it was to sign up.

I am.

I don't know if I'd be any good, though. I'm not allowed to donate blood or bone marrow.

Signed up at the same time as I got my driving licence, so nice that they expect us teenagers to kill ourselves driving, so they want to be able too harvest our organs.
But meh, I couldn't care less about what happens after I die so if you want my flesh bags, you Can have them.

What else are you teenagers good for though except for your delectable, delicious organs? :coma:

It won't let me vote.

I signed up to be an organ donor, and I have the little card they sent me in the front of my purse.

I thought if I'm willing to take organs from someone else, then I should be willing to give them away as well.
Haven't gotten around to donating blood yet though - but it is something I want to do.

We need organs more than blood. People die every day due to lack of organs. Blood we always need because it would be a disaster if we ran out, but at the moment supply is just about keeping up with need.

Same, don't see why most people wouldn't.

Cool - your choice.

Can I confirm though that if you needed organs you definitely wouldn't accept them? Because obviously expecting others to help you but not doing the same would be a pretty dickish thing to to.

Do you do that in the rest of your life? Expect people to do things for you with you giving nothing in return?

If yes, then I guess you are just a lost cause and I hope you get your comeuppance.

If no, can I suggest you re-evaluate your position on this topic.

That is all.

I dont expect anything from anyone, if someone wants to do something than thats their choice. If someone is willing to donate their organ to me, its up to them, I dont expect anything.

But I have medical issues. No matter how much organs are needed, the NHS can't just use unfit or unsuitable donors.

There was the recent issue where a recipient received a kidney (might have been liver, can't fully remember) that was infected with some kind of parasite - and that hospital got into a lot of trouble.
