Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could offer mesome advice on how to answer this exam question. Any useful sites or in factany help of any kind would be much appreciated. "The Northern Ireland ‘public sphere ‘continues to be a locationfor competing British and Irish identities. Critically evaluate this statement.”

Irish culture is more to do with folk culture and nationalism

English culture is much more influence by the mass media and popular culture

Strong links to American culture due to globalisation

Hybrid cultures are being adopted as the merge of American and English cultures is happening

Irish identity is much more relaxed

Nationalism from both sides can cause cultural and society conflicts

Due to NI being detached from ROI it causes it to be more English orientated because of conflicts with ROI. Because it's in the UK the culture of England and NI are more similar.

Hope this helps a bit.

Merge and conflicts of England and ROI.
