im currently doing bio chem and physics but i want to do biochemistry at university do i need to pick up maths for it? or can physics work as a substitute/

Look up requirements for a biochemistry course at different unis but I'm guessing they'll ask for biology and chemistry.

Im applying for Biochemistry and you dont need maths nor physics. Its very the biological side of chemistry as you can see
