Most of the traditional "top" universities don't offer environmental science as a degree since it's very specialised (although they will offer broader degrees, e.g. Earth Sciences or Physics that have Environmental Science modules). Some very good universities offer Environmental Geoscience (such as UCL, Bristol and Durham) which could be a compromise you might be willing to make if you're more interested in the physical science rather than the biological side of things. If you're determined to do plain Environmental Science though, I think UEA and Reading have pretty good reputations.

Hey sueann_ysa! You're saying you want to know about good universities for Environmental Science well I've been doing a lot of research and visits into unis which do Environmental Science. It depends if you want more lab based learning, or fieldwork learning, theory, or maybe a mix of all three also it depends what area of environmental science you're interested in as I've found that different unis teach the same degree in a different way. Like Nottingham Trent is much more about the environment in general and conservation whereas at Leicester there is a lot about fossil fuels and energy resources. If you tell me what sort of things your looking for, I could help point you in the right direction. Like the type of learning and maybe certain modules you're interested in 😊

Hi emily_jane64! I think I would like a mixture of all three but with more on fieldwork. i think I'm more interested in modules relating to management, environmental issues and the relationship with humans society, maybe some policy and human resources.

Thanks so much!!

Hi, I'm a 3rd year in Environmental Science at Southampton and highly recommend it. We do a good mix of all subjects and have pretty good facilities. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hello, I know this post is VERY old, but I'm applying to Southampton for Environmental Science and was wondering if you could tell me what their teaching style is and also if the campus is nice?
Thank you!

As you say, this is an old thread so you may not get an answer, have you tried looking in/talking to the people in the University of Southampton forum?
