Why give a guy your number..

I'm a reasonably confident and good looking guy (if I may say so myself), who generally has success with women. However, I just want to know why girls give a guy their number if they don't want them to use it.
As the other night I met this girl and SHE took out my phone and gave me her number, so I texted her the next day but didn't get a reply, then I rang her a few days later but she didn't seem very keen to talk to me. And this isn't the first time this has happened.

Were they pissed when they gave you their number?

Are you sure she's not dead or something because that sounds a bit silly.

They sometimes do this because they don't fancy you and are trying to find a way to get rid of you. If they give you their number they think that you will leave them alone and they think they can just ignore you when you phone them a few days later. They give you their real number because they are too scared to give you a fake number and think that you will check the number in front of her.

no idea....maybe shes playing hard to get.........

actully come to think of that do people still do that?

I give a guy my number if I think he has potential to be a good friend as I'm in a relationship and I'd make sure the guy knew that.

In your situation, either she was drunk at the time or perhaps you came over as too desperate to talk to her?

Confidence-booster. Don't worry about it - it was nothing personal. Carry on doing your stuff.

Don't forget that people lose phones, they get stolen, people run out of credit, develop amnesia, blah blah blah. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Well she came over to get me to dance with her, which is why I found it strange that she didn't seem to want to talk to me when I rang her.

I doubt she sat by her phone for the rest of the week, patiently waiting for you to call her. She might have just woken up or something when you called. There are a million reasons why she might have been short with you on the phone.

Anyway, don't waste your time worrying about it. If she's not keen, she's not keen.

What seems like a good idea one night, might seem like a bad idea a few days later. So she might have been interested in you on the night and given you her number, but a few days later she might have had other things on her mind or been really busy. Don't worry about it, it is just the way the game works. Paradoxically, how many numbers have you got off of girls that you haven't bothered phoning because you were drunk when you got her number or because you were really busy and couldn't be bothered to set up a date? Just move on- if she is not interested when you phone her, forget about her.

If you called her, then she's probably got a record of your number on her phone. She can easily call you back if she's really interested.
If she does....tell her you're busy !

Thanks, pretty good advice people. I'm just going to move on.

Men are simple to understand. We like boobs, beer and sports.

Could be the old 'wrong number' job

Lol I thought this type of thing only happened on MySpace (with messages though). It always saddens me when people don't have the decency to say "I'm shallow and you're not good looking enough" or simply "I don't want to talk" but instead opt to ignore you. I guess some people don't care about being nice or honest. The good that comes out of it is I realise I was wrong about them and they're not good enough. So I don't dwell on it.
